When we start to change our diet or lifestyle, the first thing we should give up as soon as possible is white sugar.

Until we take this extremely important step, it will be very difficult to make a breakthrough in weight loss and improved health.

This often seems like a drastic move and a difficult decision to make immediately.

It may be necessary to provide some degree of transition, for which sweeteners or sugar substitutes are a good option.

However, it's easy to get caught in the dilemma of which sweetener is a worthy alternative to white sugar, as there is so much information on the subject running through our minds.

In this month's blog post, we now want to help you choose the right sweetener with some tips.

So let's take a look at the different groups of sweeteners and their advantages and disadvantages.

Artificial sweeteners

They are sugar substitutes made from chemical ingredients and have no calorific value. Sweeteners in this group are aspartame and saccharin.

Sugar alcohols

They are no sweeter than sugar. They have a caloric value but less than sugar. They are not related to alcohol. They are often found in ready-to-eat foods, such as chocolate, chewing gum or toothpaste. They are often used in combination with artificial sweeteners. The best known of these are xylitol and erythritol.

Neotame sweeteners

Most neotame sweeteners are made from stevia extract. They also include fructose oligosaccharides and trehalose.

Natural sweeteners

If sugar (fructose), agave syrup, honey, maple syrup. They have essentially the same number of calories and carbohydrates as sugar. They are safe, but have little health benefit. If you eat a lot of these, you gain weight and body fat and you are at risk of developing diabetes, just as you would be if you did by using sugar. Their vitamin and mineral content is undeniable, but they are broken down into glucose and fructose in the body in the same way that sugar is.

Everyone believes in something else; a different type of sweetener may work for him or her. Don't get frustrated when you may experience unpleasant side effects, as some people fall in love with one type, while others find another type of sweetener more helpful. It's worth trying several things and not giving up. But in the long run, it is also advisable not to consume too much of these beneficial sweeteners.

The good news, however, is that we will gradually get used to making our food less sweet, so we will need fewer and fewer sweeteners or sugar substitutes.

In the meantime, feel free to choose from our large selection of sweeteners and sweetener products!
