Every year, the last day of May is World No Tobacco Day. This year, 31 May is the 35th World No Tobacco Day, with the theme "Tobacco Threatens the Environment".

Tobacco is one of the most serious public health problems in the world today. There are more than 380 million smokers in China, which accounts for 28% of the world's smokers. With 1.1 billion smokers worldwide, the country with the largest number of smokers is China, where the percentage of smokers is 28%.

Even more alarming is the fact that more than one million deaths are caused by smoking-related diseases each year. It is well documented that smoking can cause respiratory, malignant, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. In addition, World Health Organisation studies have shown that smokers are at higher risk of developing serious illness and death among those affected by the new coronavirus.

Therefore, it is particularly important to quit smoking. So, how should you quit smoking scientifically?

In fact, to help quit smoking, quercetin can be taken to facilitate this process as the lungs undergo the process of repairing themselves.

Quercetin is a bioflavonoid that is widely distributed in the plant world. A leading study has shown that its flavonoid content not only helps to speed up the recovery of blood vessels damaged by smoking, but also helps to heal the lungs that have been 'smoked' by smoking. Flavonoids are also known as powerful 'guardians' of health, and researchers at Edith Cowan University in Australia have published a study in the prestigious international journal Nature which claims that eating foods rich in flavonoids may prevent cancer and heart disease, especially in smokers.

Therefore, quercetin, made from purely natural plant extracts, is not only good for lung health, but also acts as an expectorant and cough suppressant as well as a wheezing remedy, giving you fresh, good lungs and the freedom to breathe.

Quercetin keeps lung disease at bay

Long-term smokers are prone to impaired lung function, which can lead to a high incidence of certain lung diseases, and even to lung nodules and lung cancer. Quercetin has excellent immune and antiviral properties, including antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergy, blood pressure, blood lipid and immunomodulatory functions, and can also prevent lung cancer, inhibit the growth of cancer cells and combat DNA damage caused by smoking.

A study at Maastricht University School of Medicine, USA, conducted a double-blind intervention trial on two groups of nodule patients of similar age and sex, who were non-smokers and had never had relevant treatment, found that: "Quercetin supplementation improved the body's antioxidant defences, which indicated an increase in total plasma antioxidant capacity. In addition, quercetin supplementation reduced markers of oxidative stress and inflammation in the blood of patients with nodular disease. And the higher the levels of oxidative stress and inflammatory markers, the more pronounced the effect of quercetin supplementation."

That's why quercetin is so sought after by smoke-quitters at home and abroad, and the core key to a really good quercetin is good absorption.

In modern society, in addition to long-term smoking 'patients', there are many people who are forced to receive second-hand smoke for long periods of time and who are dependent on 'smoking' due to the pressures of life. We hope that more and more people will pay attention to their lung health and take care of their lungs.
